Service Lead
Location: Norwich & surrounding areas
Hours: 16 per week
Contract type: Fixed Term to end April 2025
Salary: £25,357 per annum pro rata
We’ve got an opportunity…

We are looking for a Service Lead to join us in Norwich to work on an exciting new pilot project between the British Red Cross, Norwich Foodbank and supported by the Trussell Trust. The aim of the project is to test an outreach approach, working in partnership with foodbank volunteers and local agencies as to whether this can positively impact people accessing the food banks and their immediate family, by addressing unmet social needs. A further aim is to see if we can reduce food poverty, initial foodbank usage and reliance on foodbank or other charitable food aid support.

The Norwich foodbank operates across ‘Greater Norwich’ which includes Wymondham, Wroxham, Loddon and the area in between so travel will be needed to different sites and including to client’s homes within these areas.

You’ll work in the community to help identify and address unmet social needs and this may include supporting people with more complex presentations including mental health, long-term conditions and potentially adverse traumatic experiences. Clients can be suspicious of formality and offers of support, and your compassionate, authentic nature will help them access the help they need. You’ll help to lower stigma within the community and change mindsets and behaviours by building strong relationships with a variety of partners and stakeholders.

What you’ll bring to the role…

Exceptionally strong ability to connect with other people – you’ll be authentic, relatable, compassionate and an excellent communicator.
You understand how the system works and how to help people falling through the gaps.
You’ve experience in person centred support planning and dynamic risk assessment.
You’re strong, resilient and courageous, with a real appetite to help some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
Can think on your feet, with strong negotiation skills and able to manage your personal workload including prioritising clients and cases.
Meticulous record keeping skills.

You will be required to work one evening and one Saturday a month on a rota basis.

Say hello to the team…

Closing date for application is 23.59 on Tuesday 9th May with interviews to follow.
As well as being involved in an existing new pilot, you will also get:
