Service Support Worker
Location: British Red Cross Taunton TA2 6BD and throughout the county of Somerset.
Hours: 28 per week (There could be potential for the hours to increase to full time. Job shares will also be considered).
Contract type: Permanent
Salary: £19,838 per annum based on 35 hour week

As a Service Support Worker, you would be part of our Independent Living & Crisis Response service (IL/CR). We support people in the space between hospital and home and are dedicated to helping those who need it most. You would respond to the needs of people in crisis following an emergency.

A day in the life of a Service Support Worker:

You will support Musgrove Park Hospital and Yeovil District Hospital by providing transport and aiding a safe discharge for individuals within the County of Somerset.
You will provide practical and emotional support to adults in the community preventing hospital admission and enabling them to live independently or ensuring an early discharge from hospital
You will assess service users’ needs and complete and follow a support plan for them.
You will respond to referrals from Clinicians and Community Health Professionals.

To be a successful Service Support Worker:

You will have knowledge of services provided by NHS and Social Care and a working knowledge of Health and Safety practices.
You will be comfortable supporting vulnerable adults.
You will have experience in writing reports and support plans.
You will be IT literate particularly with Microsoft 365.
You will need a full UK driving licence with access to own vehicle.
You will be flexible (Team has flexibility with contract hours so days/hours will be discussed in more detail at interview).
