Support Worker – Emergency Department
Location: The Grange University Hospital, Llanfrechfa Grange, Caerleon Road, Cwmbran NP44 8YN
Contract type: Fixed Term Until 31st March 2025
Hours per week: 22
Salary: £20,405 per annum pro-rata

You will be based in the fast paced Emergency Department, providing care to patients and their families. You will undertake non-medical tasks to free up the medical staff. This will enable them to focus on their clinical role whilst you make a patient’s stay as relaxed as possible.
A day in the life of a Support Worker:
You will escort patients to assigned departments.
You will collect prescriptions to speed up their discharge.
You will assist with giving out meals and ensure patients have food/drink while waiting for long hours.
You will drive patients home when discharged, making sure they are safely settled.
You will signpost and refer patients to other sources of assistance within their area.
Please note that this service runs from Monday to Sunday 10am to 10pm, including bank holidays.
To be a successful Support Worker:
Do you know how to improve service quality for the benefit of users? Can you deal with queries in a discreet manner?
Do you have a good knowledge of services provided by the NHS and Social Care?
Are you IT literate?
Do you have a full UK driving licence allowing you to drive a manual transmission vehicle?
