Duties and Responsibilities
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of and in close consultation with staff in the Secretariat to the Governing Bodies working on substantive and communication matters, the consultant will: Develop and implement a branding concept for the Fifteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, including designing logos and other graphics, and developing and implementing a new website design; Design and create multimedia products, including banners, roll-ups, website content, e-learning tools, and infographics related to the work of the Vienna-based Commissions; Design and produce quality visual material, including videos, using relevant computer software, e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Premiere and others, and ensure photos and graphics are appropriate and conform to UN standards; Design unified PowerPoint templates for the CND, CCPCJ, and Crime Congress; Design a new website for the Crime Congress and assist with the management of existing websites by preparing new pages, incorporating graphics and images as needed, posting content and updates through the web content management system; Assist with the development and design of events platforms and the hosting of meetings thereon, as appropriate; Assist with filming at events and edit video footage to produce high-quality and visually compelling videos for use on web and social media platforms, as well as assist with filming and editing messages with senior officials; Develop and implement, together with other relevant staff, communication plans to increase the outreach of the CND, CCPCJ, and Crime Congress; Identify issues and trends in digital media and advise on appropriate action/responses; Ensure the booking of webcast services for meetings; Post approved information on the social media accounts run by the Secretariat to the Governing Bodies according to workplan; Maintain the multimedia equipment inventory list; Perform any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications/special skills
Education: Advanced University degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communications, graphic or digital design, public relations, development studies, or social sciences is required; A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with an additional 2 years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Work Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in managing or supporting work related to communications, training, media engagement, marketing and sales and/or public information/relations is required; Strong communication skills in a multicultural context, including ability to correctly interpret messages and adequately reflect input in written texts, as well as excellent team working skills are required; Solid professional experience in the production of related products such as audio, videos, photos and graphics is required; Experience with graphics/video tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, After Effect, Lightroom, Canva, or similar is desirable; Experience within the UN system or similar international organizations is desirable; Good interpersonal skills and a high degree of independent judgment and initiative are/is desirable; Excellent team working skills are required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English (oral and written) is required; Knowledge of other official UN languages is an advantage.
