JOB DETAIL

Duty station:                                    Sittwe (MTN/TKP Camp)

Duration and type of contract:       Up to 31-Dec-2023 (Fixed term)

Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the assistant position is to assist in the day to day implementation of the CC project. Use actions words such as conduct or assist for the position relevant responsibilities.

Generic responsibilities (max 10)

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  4. Assist Shelter Officer in initial assessment, site monitoring and inspection, furniture distribution and make sure to collect beneficiaries’ data record.
  5. Mobilize communities and community leaders for the building materials, construction activities, maintenance of structures.
  6. Suggest new methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities
  7. Administrate payment requests for partners, contractors, suppliers, construction workers etc.
  8. Report all protection related concerns
  9. Carry out data collection, and electronic data inputting as required
  10. Prepare, scan and file relevant documents according to procedures

Specific responsibilities 

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly

  • Assist in Shelter activities and report on progress;
  • Participate in training, implementation, running and follow-up of the shelter project including monitoring and evaluation, supervision of field activity with the team
  • Support the Shelter Officer in ensuring that all administrative and logistical tasks are promptly and correctly completed;
  • Support NRC in community/local and field-level meetings;
  • Assist Shelter Officer (on proper evaluation and monitoring, including Post Distributions Monitoring on all activities;
  • Carry out infrastructure quality check bimonthly in where NRC manage camps collaboration with team and CM staff if need;
  • Act as interpreter at field level when required and translate documents as needed;
  • Undertake any other duties assigned by the Shelter Officer as and when required

  • Experience from working in community related projects in a humanitarian or development context
  • Previous experience from working in a complex and volatile context
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency in Rakhine and other local Languages and some knowledge of English
  • A resident of Rakhine State. Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience: 
  • At least Diploma related with Engineering
  • Previous experience working with local or international organizations desirable

  • Basic English language skills as a minimum

  • Fluency in Rakhine and other local Languages and some knowledge of English
