1.   Role and responsibilities

The role of the of the Shelter/WASH Technical Assistant position is to work with the project participants – register, collect data and archive. Development and management of the data is normally conducted through the different tools, the major are Excel and SharePoint.

The purpose of the Shelter/WASH Technical Assistant position is to document repair and rehabilitation/refurbishment of buildings. The activities are conducted in the office and onsite during the visits to the participants, local authorities and other stakeholders.

Generic responsibilities

In line with NRC policies, guidelines and standards:
•    Collect and organize data from the project participants, local authorities through the multiple digital tools of NRC.
•    Ensure that all Shelter/WASH projects implementation is documented in a timely manner and according to strategy in line with NRC policies and donor requirements.
•    Take the images of the damaged property before and after the repairment.
•    Contribute to preparation of data collection for outcome monitoring, beneficiary consultations, and other assessments as needed and following data collection protocols.
Specific responsibilities 

•   Collaborate with relevant local authorities and stakeholders at the field level as requested by the supervisor (i.e. local authorities, other humanitarian organizations, volunteer groups).
•   Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
•   Ensure proper filing of documents.

•   Contribute to development of data management system through documentation, implementation and coordination of information flow of the WASH/Shelter activities and reporting.
•   Conduct quality checks on output and outcome-level data.
•   Ensure adherence to planned schedules, data collection targets, and reporting deadlines.
•   Contribute to regular M&E reports by analyzing data at the field level and drafting field level recommendations.
•   Complete data analysis of outcome data and support with qualitative data analysis as well as internal/external reporting where necessary.
•   Introspective, proactive, solutions-oriented, and seeks objective feedback from peers and line manager.

Context/specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience from working within technical expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery context.
  • Data analysis skills (quantitative and qualitative).
  • Previous experience collaborating and coordinating with various departments within and across area offices.
  • Good command of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel and SharePoint.
  • The cerificates from LinkedIN or other providers on Excel and(or) SharePoint is an advantage.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian essential.
  • English, both oral and written is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience handling complaints and feedback (for temporary gap filling) could be an added advantage.
  • Excellent communicator with good interpersonal qualities that foster collaboration, buy-in, and acceptance.
  • Willingness to work in demanding, stressful situations with respect for basic security rules.
