VANUATU SHIFT SHACK PROJECT OFFICER

Where you come in:

You will lead the implementation of the SHIFT SHACK Project, Supporting all six Shift Groups. This position is based in Port Vila only, but with travel to Efate outer islands (depending on shift group activity implementation).

You will make an impact by:

· Act as the main focal officer of the Shift project under Save The Children ANCP Programming.

· Establish ongoing relationship with Shift Global support team, especially during project start phase.

· Use this phase to understand the Shift Model and live/uphold its core values; Be Local, Their Issues, Their Campaign, Be Accessible, Be Young and Bring Opportunity.

· Plan and promote Shift ‘Fun Adult training’ within Vanuatu CO. Ensure that staff and Youth focused Civil Society Organizations, prepare for, and participate in this training to maximise potential for model across Vanuatu.

· Support Program Manager, Partnerships Manager and Comms team to implement the four main model phases of the Shift.

o Connect: Map existing out active Youth Led Groups around Efate and Vanuatu

Youth Groups. Outreach/network with groups to ensure they understand Shift as an opportunity. Encourage applications from interested groups and manage recruitment process, including conducting final selection interviews.

o Plan: Help organise campaign co-creation workshop and ensure that selected youth groups are prepared and engaged.

o Create: Procure ‘Creative Buddies’ who can support youth’s artistic vision for campaign. Ensure they are briefed on the project. Facilitate creation sessions between youth and create buddies to build assets.

o Activate: Facilitate regular campaign planning/implementation meetings with youth. Ensure group members assign roles. Ensure groups are documenting these activities through photos, film and are taking notes of campaign wins.

 

· Work with Advocacy team to create opportunities for engagement with decision makers (e.g. in government but also private sector).

· Work with Comms team to secure positive media coverage of campaign and issues within local/international media.

· Work with Comms team to ensure storytelling of the campaign, through the eyes of youth campaigners.

· Work with Creative Buddies to link SHIFTERS with Creative Agencies.

· Develop strategies to engage youth in climate change initiatives and empower them to take action.

· Work with MEAL team to ensure all group activity data’s are recorded.

· Support final impact assessment, including capturing participant impact via exit surveys with youth.

This role requires:

 

i. Experience in project management, Community Work and or relevant field.

  1. Demonstrated ability to identify challenges and develop innovative solutions to address them.
  2. Supervise and support a team of staff and volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the program.
  3. Familiarity with climate change issues and their impacts, particularly in the Pacific Islands region.
  4. Willingness to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  5. Organize workshops, seminars, and other events to raise awareness about climate change and promote youth participation.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders and the public.

 

Annual Salary: 1,490,000 vatu
