Job Description
This is the social media role you’ve been waiting for. A chance to take the reins, build something truly exciting, and bring a fresh content strategy to life. If you’re a creative, strategic, and data-savvy social media expert who thrives on crafting thumb-stopping content, driving engagement, and making a real impact—this one’s for you.

About the Role

We’re on the hunt for a Social Media Manager who doesn’t just ‘get’ social but lives and breathes it. You’ll be leading the charge in shaping and executing a bold new content strategy, turning our social platforms into dynamic, engaging, and inspiring spaces that connect with audiences in fresh and meaningful ways.

This isn’t just about managing feeds—it’s about pushing creative boundaries, testing new ideas, and building an engaged community that amplifies our mission. From storytelling and influencer collaborations to innovative content formats and data-driven growth, you’ll have the freedom (and the support) to make big moves.

Why This Role is a Game-Changer

It’s an exciting time to be in marketing at Save the Children. This is a rare full-time, permanent opportunity in our brand new Melbourne CBD head office* to take a well-known brand’s social media presence to the next level. You’ll have the autonomy to set the direction, backed by a team of passionate marketers who believe in shaking things up. It’s also a chance to work for an organisation making a real impact—helping children here in Australia and around the world.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading the development and execution of an exciting new social media and content strategy.
  • Creating and curating innovative, engaging content that cuts through the noise.
  • Using data and insights to test, optimise, and refine our approach.
  • Working closely with teams across fundraising, programs, and retail to create integrated, high-impact campaigns.
  • Building and fostering an engaged community that advocates for our cause.
  • Keeping us ahead of trends, experimenting with new formats, and exploring bold new ways to connect with audiences.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5 years of hands-on social media experience, ideally in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • A strategic thinker who knows how to balance creativity with data.
  • A bold, brave approach to content—you’re not afraid to try new things and push boundaries.
  • Strong copywriting skills and a sharp eye for what makes content engaging.
  • Solid project management skills—you can juggle multiple campaigns without breaking a sweat.
  • A collaborative mindset—you love working with teams across different functions.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe creative suite, Google Analytics, Canva, social media management tools such as Sprout, Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics

Bonus points if you’ve got experience in the non-profit space, but it’s not a dealbreaker.

Perks & Culture

We’re all about flexibility, creativity, and impact. Here’s what you can expect:

  • A hybrid work environment—work from our Melbourne CBD office, your home, or a mix of both.
  • Learning and development opportunities to help you level up.
  • Extra leave and full salary packaging benefits to help your pay go further (please use this link to see how much this benefit could mean to you!)
  • An inclusive, supportive team that’s passionate about making a difference.
