Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract. Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position.

IOM Greece through futured medical project foresees the provision of medical, nursing and psychosocial support services to asylum seekers and beneficiaries of temporary protection, who reside or will reside during the implementation of the Project in the asylum seekers’ accommodation facilities under the responsibility of the Reception and Identification Service (RIS).

Under the overall supervision of the National Project Officer and the direct supervision of the Project Assistant, the successful candidate will assist the coordinator in the implementation, monitoring, reporting of project activities.

  1. Cooperate with the medical and psychosocial teams on the day-to-day activities, that require their assistance.
  2. Keep the supervisor informed on any challenges occurred on field, especially those that should be escalated for medical or psychosocial support.
  3. Ensure that all duties conducted are in accordance with internal IOM’s internal rules and regulations, as well as any Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) provided by the project management.

  4. Conduct vulnerability assessments to migrants and refugees residing in the assigned locations and address protection needs by contacting competent agencies for specialized protection services.
  5. Adress the needs of vulnerable groups, including women at risk, children at risk and the elderly and refer cases for further treatment.
  6. Follow up on protection cases and ensure quality case management.
  7. Maintain a comprehensive and updated case file for each case undertaken. Inform and keep beneficiaries updated for the progress of their cases.
  8. Ensure that all cases are recorded and timely updated in the database of the project.
  9. Regular mapping of services on-site and off-site and ensure access of services to migrants and refugees.
  10. Develop individual action plans for migrants and refugees.
  11. Support the organization and participate on regular team meetings to discuss case management and collect feedback on existing risks, challenges, and gaps in service provision for protection cases.
  12. Escort beneficiaries to public health facilities, if requested by supervisor.
  13. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Education
  • University degree in Social Work from an accredited academic institution with minimum two years of relevant work experience.
  • Master’s degree in above field an advantage.
  • License to practice social work.
  • Membership with the Association of Greek Social Workers would be an advantage.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred;
  • Familiarity with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees an advantage;
  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment.
Skills
  • Computer literacy in standard software applications (MS Office, etc);
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to keep deadlines.
Languages
  • Fluency in English and Greek (written and oral) is required.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
