The USAID’s Alliance for Combating TB in Bangladesh (ACTB) Activity is working to establish a dynamic, strategic, and fresh approach to accelerate Bangladesh’s fight against TB. The solutions will be aimed at creating an environment aligned with the universal health coverage (UHC) vision and focused on defined priority areas – increased TB detection, decentralized DR-TB management, improving detection and management of child TB, expanded prevention, and others.

The Statistician will report to the Deputy Chief of Party with frequent communications with the Technical Lead, Chief of Party and Senior MEL Advisor. The position holder will be responsible for performing data analysis, data coordination and developing independent statistical capacities for the use of valid statistical analysis to provide high level statistical and data analysis support to the USAID’s ACTB team within the guidelines of project protocols and internal standards of icddr,b and in accordance with organizational framework and guidelines. S/he will be involved to:

  • Explore statistical project ideas;
  • Develop a conceptual framework;
  • Create statistical hypothesis and objectives;
  • Align project research hypothesis and objectives with goals of the project;
  • Finalize project research hypothesis;
  • Develop methodology of research activities in consultation with senior project team members;
  • Provide support to research focal persons to make project activities, methods and tools efficient;
  • Resolve queries/questions related to the soundness of methodology to develop independent statistical project research ideas and enhance statistical rigour of project concepts;
  • Undertake statistical analysis and conduct data modelling on the data to prepare manuscripts and reports by the research team;
  • Resolve queries and issues related to statistical analysis to provide a high-quality of results from data analysis;
  • Provide necessary support to the data management team in data consistency checking and processing;
  • Facilitate in maintaining the sound data management system through a feedback mechanism;
  • Build capacity of project staff on statistical analysis;
  • Carry out any other relevant tasks, assigned by the project management.

Required qualification and experience:

  • Masters in Statistics / Bio-statistics / Applied Statistics from a reputed university;
  • Minimum 5 years of experiences in relevant field preferable in child health project, health research and/or demographic surveillance system;
  • Very good knowledge and skill in Survey and Surveillance data analysis;
  • Must have good knowledge in Statistical package like STATA/ R/ SPSS and SQL

Location: Dhaka.

Contract Type and duration:

  • Fixed Term; duration will be 01 years with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits:

  • Annual Tk. 15,31,970/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance, and other admissible benefits;
  • 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
