Dhaka Hospital provides free clinical care for all types of diarrhoeal disease and nutritional care services. Icddr,b discovers, develops, and evaluates new interventions and helps to improve the delivery and scale-up of interventions to prevent and treat all types of diarrheal disease and its complications. The clinical trial on Shigellosis children will help to provide a new dimension in the treatment of multi-drug resistant Shigellosis cases.

Position Description:

The Study Physician will report to the Assistant Scientist and will be responsible for conducting scientific research on relevant public health issues in the context of diarrheal disease; treatment of children suffering from suspected bloody diarrhea; and performing specific study procedures with the objective of collecting high-quality research data within the guidelines of the research protocols and organizational values. She/he will be engaged in multiple tasks assigned by the Principal Investigator, which include:

• Develop new research ideas, concept notes and research proposals;
• Patient enrolment, carrying out physical examination, CRF fill-up, checking nutritional status, doing biological tests, interpreting test results, and follow-up study participants
• Train and supervise study staff on screening, data collection, sample collection procedures, and maintain study records.
• Works in protocol paper writing, manuscript writing, prepare the study report based on comments from the supervisor, partners, and the funding agency.
• Under the supervision of PI apply rigorous scientific analysis to derive meaningful scientific inferences from data;
• Ensure continuous progress monitoring and constantly improvise the project implementation processes and resolve any queries and escalate appropriate issues
• Prepare reports and share findings with the supervisor in order to execute activities in accordance with the research protocol
• Maintain liaison with the other collaborators, and stakeholders, and NGOs

Required qualification and experience

• MBBS degree from a reputed medical college with a valid BMDC registration; Candidates who have completed two years of clinical fellowship at icddr,b will get preference.
• At least 1 year working experience clinical trial. Candidate who have publication in international peer-reviewed journal will get preference.

Contract Type and Duration:

• Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk. 87,180/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
