POSITION SUMMARY Position Purpose: The Innovation Hub hosts fun unique summer camps for ages 8-17 focused on nature, art and STEAM. Our 2024 summer camps have three different themes: 1) Artists: Imagine, Design, and Animate; 2) Inventors: Dream, Explore, and Create; and 3) Scientists: Invent, Experiment, and Observe. This is a part-time seasonal position dedicated to assisting the Education Team with summer activities that include field trips, summer camps, and the Mobile Makerspace.

Position Overview: The Summer Intern will assist our educators in leading youth programs, preparing kits & supplies, camp set up and clean up, enforcing Innovation Hub safety protocol and camp guidelines, and must be a positive role model for youth ages 8-17. This position reports to the Senior Associate, Education and works with other Education Team members to deliver exceptional STEAM programming for the Innovation Hub that inspires youth to be makers, artists, and entrepreneurs. Daily work hours: 7:30am – 12pm are preferred hours but may be flexible to some afternoon shifts. Duration: Monday – Friday, June 3- August 2, 2024 Compensation: Hourly rate: $14 for rising Grades 11-12 Hourly rate: $16 for graduating Senior (18+) or recent high school graduates.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Major Responsibilities Assisting in leading summer camps. Setting up supplies for summer camps. Making kits for the Mobile Makerspace events. Setting a positive example for younger interns and campers. Facilitate exceptional learning experiences for a variety of ages and abilities in students.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education: Junior or Senior High School Student, 16+ years of age OR recent High School graduate, 18+ Experience: Experience working with youth preferred. Experience with a STEAM hobby or learning experience preferred. Desire to enter a STEAM related career field or degree program preferred. Computer/Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.). Google and SharePoint knowledge a plus. Accurate and precise attention to detail.

Communication Skills: Good interpersonal skills. Ability to write clearly and concisely. Teaching and/or public speaking skills preferred. Language: Fluency in English is required. Required Travel: Minimal travel may be required. Position-Specific Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to give direction to youth. Positive and encouraging attitude. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Experience as “maker” (artist, craftsmen, engineer, musician) preferred. Physical Demands: Able to lift up to 25 lbs. This position typically requires sitting for long periods of office work, standing, bending, and reaching. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
