BACKGROUND

With its 14 E-3A aircraft, our organization plays a critical role in NATO and our mission is to deliver ready, responsive Airborne Early Warning, Battle Management, and Command and Control capability to operational commanders in support of NAC-approved tasks.

The Base Support Wing (SW) is responsible for the safe and effective delivery of all MOB support functions including the supervision of those functions covered in HN Support Agreements.

The Food & Services Branch provides base food services and flight meals, operates the NAEW&CF food facilities and prepares special meals.

The incumbent manages, supervises and/or operates all NAEW&C Force directed and requested Food and Services Branch Activities within his/her area of responsibility.

THE ROLE

 

The incumbent`s duties are:

 

  • Providing supervision and oversight in the Rotodome including Flight Kitchen and the Conference Center at the direction of the Branch Head; adequately allocates personnel and resources;
  • Ensuring that Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) property, MWA funds and International Funds are managed and controlled in accordance with respective ACO directives and the guidelines provided by the Financial Controller;
  • Providing inputs for the international and NAF budget;
  • Assisting the Branch Head in developing, managing and controlling the Morale and Welfare programme;
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of programs and policies;
  • Following relevant Host Nation labor laws applicable;
  • Ensuring appropriate sanitation, hygiene and industrial safety rules are applied in all Services areas;
  • Involved in event planning for annual recurring special events according to senior leadership guidance;
  • German language knowledge is required for incumbent to perform assigned duties (contracts with German authorities, companies, clubs etc.).

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

  • Thorough experience in managing and supervising staff and activities related to catering, well-fare programs, event management, restaurants or similar fields;
  • Experience in providing inputs with regard to budget activities;
  • Higher Secondary education and intermediate vocational training in catering, event management, restaurant services or similar fields with 2 years’ post related experience, or Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in catering, event management, restaurant services or similar fields with 4 years’ post related experience;
  • Driving License equivalent to European Class B;
  • Adequate level of Automatic Data Procession (ADP) systems is essential;
  • The work, both oral and written, in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole is conducted mainly in English. Consequently, adequate level of English proficiency is required;
  • Additionally, knowledge of the Host Nation language (German) is essential.

 

 

THE FOLLOWING WOULD BE CONSIDERED AS AN ADVANTAGE

 

  • Previous NATO assignment; 
  • Experience working in an international / military environment; 
  • Familiarity with general NATO administrative, personnel and training procedures;
  • Experience in event management or supporting event planning activities;
  • Experience in customer service;
  • Experience in dealing with suppliers, contractors and vendors;
  • Knowledge of sanitation, hygiene and industrial safety rules;
  • Knowledge of or experience with following German labor laws.

CONTRACT

 

Serving civilian members of NATO will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations.

Newly recruited staff will be initially offered a definite duration contract of three years. Thereafter, an indefinite duration contract might be offered.

 

 

SALARY

 

Salary value indicated in this vacancy notice is based on NATO`s Single Salary Spine scale.
