Context

The Telemedicine Project for Ageing Persons in Tubah Sub-Division is a critical intervention aimed at addressing the severe healthcare accessibility challenges faced by elderly individuals in crisis-affected communities of Cameroon’s North West and South West regions. The ongoing armed conflict has seriously affected the functioning of healthcare facilities, led to a shortage of trained medical personnel, and security risks that prevent ageing persons from seeking medical care. Many elderly individuals suffer from preventable and undiagnosed conditions due to the lack of specialized care and the inability to travel long distances for medical consultations. By leveraging telemedicine technology, this project seeks to bridge the healthcare gap by providing remote consultations, diagnostic services, and continuous follow-ups, ensuring that ageing persons receive timely medical attention without exposing themselves to security threats. Implementing this initiative will not only improve health outcomes but also reduce preventable mortality rates and enhance the overall well-being of elderly persons in these high-risk communities.
