The Programme for HIV and AIDS under the Health System and Population Studies Division (HSPSD) at icddr,b provides good quality HIV prevention services to vulnerable populations at risk of HIV infection since 2010 this has been made possible by working with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB), donors, NGOs and CBOs. Program for HIV and AIDS has taken an initiative to develop and test an ICT based comprehensive intervention in order to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of men who have sex with men (MSM), male sex workers (MSW) and hijra in a selected district (Mymensingh) in Bangladesh.

Position Description:
The Surveillance Worker (Rural) will report to the Senior Manager, M & E, HIV and will collect quantitative data from key populations at risk of compromised situation of SRHR such as MSM/MSW/Hijra. He/she is also responsible to explain study procedures to the participants to persuade them to provide socio-demographics, sexual and other information related to SRHR within the guidelines of the study protocol and organizational values and guidelines.

• Understand study objectives and guidelines;
• Visit field and motivate MSM/MSW/Hijra to take part in the survey;
• Obtain consent/assent from the participants before interview;
• Conduct face-to-face interview to collect socio-demographics, sexual and other information related to SRHR;
• Support the Supervisor/Research Investigator/Data Management Assistant/Data Management Officer by searching the respondents for data validation, if needed.
• Maintain screening and visit logs;
• Support the team for executing project related day-to-day tasks in order to execute activities in accordance with research protocol.

Required qualifications and experience:

• HSC pass or equivalent.
• At least 01 year of practical experience in collecting quantitative data.
• Preference will be given to the community members with working experience in HIV survey/surveillance.
• Educational qualification can be relaxed up to SSC from the candidates who are belonged to the MSM/MSW/Hijra community.

Contract Type and Duration:

• Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be for 06 months.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk. 22,080/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen, Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
