Position Title: Programme Support Officer (EPC)
Duty Station: IOM Somalia in Nairobi*, Kenya

Type of Appointment: Special short-term graded, six months with possibility of extension

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator (EPC) in Mogadishu, the direct supervision of the Programme Support Officer (EPC) in Nairobi, Kenya and in close coordination with relevant units and the Regional Office in Nairobi and Headquarters (HQs), the Programme Support Officer (EPC) will assist in supporting implementation, monitoring, reporting and knowledge management for all Emergency and Post-Crisis (EPC) projects.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Assist in drafting concept notes and proposals for potential donors and funding opportunities by compiling general background information from various sources and providing specific inputs upon instruction.
- Review and carry out preliminary editing of donor reports for Emergency and Post Crisis(EPC) projects and participate in report finalization process with the IOM Somalia Project Support Unit.
- Assist in identifying potential and realistic funding opportunities by collecting donor information, documenting and tracking liaison activities with (potential) donors.
- Provide support to monitoring efforts for the EPC department by applying data collection methods and maintaining adequate documentation and record of project data.
- Coordinate and compile inputs for information requests from Headquarters, Regional Office, IOM missions and external partners, such as donors, government, partner agencies and implementing partners.
- Support the knowledge management of EPC by maintaining and updating EPC information management systems.
- Assist in coordinating the development of EPC communications and visibility products, in close coordination with the IOM Somalia Communications team.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
- Master’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Development, Law and/or International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution. or
- University degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Experience in Project development and reporting;
- Experience in writing and editing information materials and reports;
- Experience in operational activities both in humanitarian and development sector;
- Work experience in the region is an advantage.
Skills
- Knowledge of Emergency and Post-Crisis subject areas dealt with by the Organization.
- Knowledge of UN and donor programming.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of Somali is an advantage.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Notes
This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya with frequent travel to Somalia.

Internationally recruited professional staff are required to be mobile.

This will be verified as part of the medical clearance process.
