Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract. Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position.
Context
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate (Protection) the Case Manager (Protection) will provide specialized case management support to migrants, refugees, and vulnerable populations. The incumbent will focus on counter-trafficking, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), health assistance, and basic needs/shelter support, ensuring a survivor-centered and rights-based approach.

1. Case Management and Direct Assistance

  • Provide individual case management for victims of trafficking, persons with mental health concerns, and those requiring shelter and basic needs assistance.
  • Conduct risk assessments, develop case plans, and coordinate service referrals.
  • Ensure access to specialized support, including health care, psychosocial services, and housing assistance.
  • Facilitate safe return and reintegration processes for trafficking survivors.

2. Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain strong partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and service providers.
  • Represent IOM in protection coordination meetings and advocacy efforts.
  • Monitor and report on protection-related trends and gaps.

3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Maintain confidential case records and ensure proper documentation.
  • Assist in preparing project reports and donor updates.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, or a related field with two years of experience; or
  • high school diploma with four years of experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
  • Experience in case management, trafficking victim assistance, or psychosocial support.
Skills
  • Knowledge of protection principles and humanitarian assistance.
  • Strong case management and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Languages
  • For this position, good understanding of English is required (oral and written)
  • Fluency in Hungarian and/or Ukrainian is a distinct advantage.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
