For this vacancy, the following are considered first level candidates:
- Internal candidates.
- Staff members on special leave of absence with or without pay (SLWOP).
- UN Volunteers with at least twelve (12) months of continuous service with IOM.
- Staff members separated due to funding constraints will be considered as first level candidates (internal equivalents) for vacant positions for which they apply in accordance with IN/233, for a period of 12 months after separation.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Visual and Multimedia Communications Associate and overall supervision of the Media and Communications National Officer, the successful candidate will contribute to IOM Colombia’s efforts to produce innovative and engaging communication materials that support the mission’s goals and projects. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the production of high-quality content that highlights, explains, and promotes the work of IOM and the donor’s support of projects, with the overall objective of raising the visibility of IOM activities in Colombia. Using video, photography, audio, and other technologies, the incumbent will identify and help produce compelling and impactful audio-visual stories, narratives, products, deliverables, and reports about IOM’s work and activities.
- Support the design and production of technical and communication materials such as brochures, infographics, booklets, posters, and presentation slides following IOM’s branding guidelines.
- Support the Communications Unit’s day-to-day work and contribute to developing and implementing the Country Office’s communications, media, and outreach strategy to raise awareness of IOM’s work and further an accurate narrative on migration among media, UN, government, and other partners and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the Mission’s official website and social media accounts (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn) content positioning, including assisting in drafting, editing, and uploading content for IOM Colombia projects.
- Assist the unit’s knowledge management requirements, data analytics, and dissemination functions.
- Comply with IOM branding and donor visibility requirements.
- Support developing engaging multimedia content to enhance project visibility, including videos, animations, brochures, posters, booklets, presentation slides, info sheets, newsletters, reports, maps and infographics, video clips, and photo-based storytelling.
- Edit and optimize photos and videos for use across various platforms.
- Assist in developing creative audiovisual content for social media, websites, events, presentations, newsletters, and other platforms to promote IOM’s work.
- Collaborate with teams to create visually compelling materials that align with mission and project objectives.
- Provide design and multimedia support for webinars, online events and conferences, content consolidation for internal and external newsletters, email campaigns, resource mobilization, and advocacy campaigns.
- Assist in creating visuals, banners, and digital tools to maximize audience engagement.
- Work closely with project teams and the communications unit team to understand their design and communication needs and deliver tailored solutions.
- Support the basic training and guidance to colleagues on design tools and visual communication best practices.
- Maintain and organize a repository of multimedia assets, templates, and communication materials.
- Regularly update the content library SharePoint and facilitate accessibility for the internal communications team.
- Review materials for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with IOM and donor guidelines before dissemination.
- Support the communications team’s efforts to create engaging and innovative storytelling in coordination with the Senior Visual and Multimedia Communications Associate and the Digital and Social Media Senior Assistant.
- Undertake duty travel as necessary to support the documentation of field activities and collect content and inputs in coordination with the project teams.
- Perform such other related duties as required by the supervisor.
Education
- University degree in Audiovisual and Multimedia Communications, Graphic Design, Multimedia Production, Communications, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least three (03) years of relevant working experience.
- High school diploma with at least five (05) years of relevant working experience.
Experience
- Experience in communication design, product creation, UX Design, multimedia production, or similar roles.
- Proven experience in creating and editing multimedia content (videos, animations, etc.).
- Familiarity with digital media platforms and analytics tools.
- Strong understanding of branding and graphic design principles.
Skills
- High computer literacy in Windows and MS Office is mandatory. Knowledge of web page design, graphic software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects), multimedia design and processing and publishing software, and proficiency in social media are an advantage.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), data analysis and visualization and knowledge management tools is desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail and creative thinking skills.
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills and creativity.
- Competence in social media management and web content development.
Languages
For all applicants, fluency in English (C1) and Spanish is required (oral and written), United Nations Language Framework.

Notes
- The IOM only accepts properly completed applications submitted through IOM’s online recruitment system. The online tool also allows candidates to track the status of their application.
