SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, since more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their basic needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI’s interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in some twenty countries, the SI teams – 2500 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.
SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) has been working in Syria since 2012. The mission employs nearly 300 national staff, and more than 40 expatriates, and has a 25 million EUR budget forecasted for 2023. There are 3 implementing offices in Syria (2 in North East Syria/NES, 1 in North West Syria/NWS) with the coordination based in Amman – Jordan. This position is based in Amman, Jordan.
The NES programs provide an integrated assistance in the WASH, NFI, Shelter and Livelihoods sectors to displaced populations and host communities affected by the conflict. NWS programs are remotely managed and provide WASH, FSL, Shelter and NFI/Winterization support to affected populations.
Type and content of program:
Syria mission is dedicated to work in challenging context to provide lifesaving activities to the population affected by the conflict. A turn from lifesaving activities to more post-emergency/development has also been undertaken.
ABOUT THE JOB
The RCO will provide support to the Grants unit for effective management of assigned grants throughout the project cycle management process. This includes development of high-quality donor reporting and support to proposal development. The RCO is part of the coordination team in Amman, reports to the Grant and Partnership Coordinator and works closely with the Grant Managers, the program and support departments and the field teams in Syria (northwest and northeast). According to experience, starting from 880 euros gross per month (800 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of 785 USD
SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate’s country of origin and the place of assignment.
Vacation:
During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of on 7 working days every three months. For a one-year assignment, the expatriate will have a 7 working days break at 3/6 and 9 month.
To these break periods, it is necessary to add the granting of 1 additional rest day per month worked > i.e. 12 days in addition for a 1-year contract.
Social and medical cover:
Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which reimburses all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.
LIVING CONDITIONS:
The candidate will be based in Amman. The city is considered safe and expat friendly. SI provides guest houses to Expats and family packages. Social life is vibrant with many places for food and entertainment. Living conditions are comfortable. The candidate will have his own room, and well-equipped common areas.
The per diem rate for Amman is 785 USD a month.
