The Organization
The Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) deliver research-based solutions that harness agricultural biodiversity and sustainably transform food systems to improve people’s lives. Alliance solutions address the global crises of malnutrition, climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation.
The Alliance works with local, national, and multinational partners across Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa, and with the public and private sectors. The Alliance is part of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food-secure future, dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources and ecosystem services.
With novel partnerships, the Alliance generates evidence and mainstreams innovations to transform food systems and landscapes so that they sustain the planet, drive prosperity, and nourish people in a climate crisis.
The Alliance is part of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food-secure future.
About the position
Based in Rome, Italy at the Alliance Headquarters, and under the direct supervision of the Scientist II, Climate Action, the Systems Scientist I, Bioclimatology & Climate Action will support Dr. Alessandro Craparo’s Team in the Climate Security and Migration research theme.
Our research aims to quantify the climate, environment, and security nexus. We produce state-of-the-art and policy-relevant evidence on how climate worsens common drivers of fragility, conflict, and displacement. Nature and humans are intricately connected. In order to solve problems within one sector, it is essential to consider the entire system. To capture the complexities of these dynamic and intertwined social-ecological systems, our work is characterized by inter- and transdisciplinary approaches, as well as complexity. These approaches help us develop the science and evidence needed by our partners to identify development pathways and levers for transformation towards sustainable and just futures.
