Team Leader – Emergency Department
Location: Emergency Department, Glangwili Hospital, Dolgwili Road, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, SA31 2AF
Contract type: Fixed Term Until 31st March 2024
Hours per week: 36
Salary: £23,431 – £24,406 per annum pro-rata

You will provide junior management support to the emergency department services. This involves the day-today co-ordination of the service and the line management of a team of paid staff and volunteers based in the emergency department.
A day in the life of a Team Leader – Emergency Department will include;
Escorting patients to assigned departments
Collecting prescriptions to speed up their discharge
Providing emotional support/pastoral care while they await treatment
Providing emotional support to close friends and families
Ensuring patients have food/drink while waiting for long hours
Driving patients home when discharged and making sure they are safely settled at home
Signposting and referring patients to other sources of support in the community
Please note that this service runs from Monday to Sunday, 10am to 8pm (including bank holidays) and successful candidate will be expected to commit to up to 10-hour shifts (flexible days)
To be successful Team Leader – Emergency Department, you’ll need:
Good ICT skills across use of the internet, emailing, word processing, spreadsheets and databases
Ability to manage own workload, complete tasks effectively and meet deadlines
Understanding of key health and safety issues when working with volunteers and staff such as lone working and risk management • Understanding of key safeguarding issues associated with working with volunteers and staff such as POVA
Up to date knowledge of good HR practices and knowledge of the supervision and appraisal process
Educated to at least A level or equivalent by experience
Full driving licence allowing you to drive a manual transmission vehicle
Able to respond to emergency situations
Able to work non-social hours in a shift pattern
