Org. Setting and Reporting
The incumbent is responsible to the Head, Infrastructure and Operations Section, P4, HQ Amman or Field, IMT Infrastructure Officer in the Field to whom s/he may be assigned.
Responsibilities
Manages and implements HQ/Field Infrastructure Networking and Telecommunications services in terms of deploying, monitoring, operating and documenting adequate and reliable service, in line with established Agency Infrastructure Strategy, policies and technical instructions. Is responsible for implementing and administering all operational tasks of the systems required for delivering the HQ/Field infrastructure networking services, which include: – Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) Switches and Routers; – WAN Bandwidth Hardware (HW)/Software (SW) Monitoring Tools; – Satellite wide area network (SWAN) Data & Voice Connectivity; – Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) Data Connectivity (Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), Leased Lines, Frame Relay, Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS); – Converged Data, Voice and Video Internet Protocol (IP) Connectivity; – Remote Access Services (Dial-up, Virtual Private Network (VPN). Provides first level infrastructure technical support to the HQ/Field staff on issues related to LAN, WAN, HW, SW, PSTN, ISDN, MPLS, IP and VPN; makes necessary technical changes as a result of support issues. Provides input on projected and new telecom and network infrastructure hardware, software and licenses capacity requirements, sharing the Field’s specific needs; participates in implementation design plans, tests and rolling out. Introduces configuration changes with minimal disruption including the following: – Applying Operating System (OS) updates; – Modifying and applying changes to device configuration; – Adding new devices for new sites; – Processing scripts used to administer devices; – Changing IP Schema and Routing Configurations; – Configure VPN connectivity; – Configure Bandwidth Quality of Service (QoS) Advises, contributes and provides recommendations on Infrastructure hardware, software and licenses systems and policies. Keeps abreast of latest telecommunication technology developments and Cloud services impacting telecommunication; makes relevant recommendations. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education
A university degree from an accredited educational institution in telecommunications, computer or electrical engineering or other related discipline. CISCO Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification.

Work Experience
At least five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in telecommunications network systems, is required. Knowledge and experience in network Switches, Routers and Wireless systems including centralized monitoring and management in large scale, high availability environments, is required. Knowledge and experience of large scale LAN/WAN switching and routing implementation and operation, is required. Experience in installing and maintaining secure network communications (VPN), firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems and secure remote authentication solutions, is required. Knowledge and experience with bandwidth management tools and techniques), is required.
Languages
Very good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Desirable qualification: -CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification. -Technical training in Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT), Private Automated Branch Exchange (PABX), Voice-Over-Internet Protocol (VOIP) Systems. -Knowledge and experience of high availability, SLAs, change management as defined by Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) with emphasis on principals of Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF). -ITIL training and certification. -Knowledge of UNRWA’s operations and computer facilities environment. Conditions of service: The monthly earnings will start from USD 1,778.75 (Monthly Salary 1,542.5 + SOA 4.49%= USD 69.25 +Supplementary Allowance USD 167) Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable).
