SHAPE is the strategic level command responsible for the planning, preparation, conduct and execution of NATO operations, missions, activities and tasks as directed by Council in order to achieve the strategic objectives of the Alliance.
Strategic Development and Preparation Directorate develops, reviews and maintains Strategic Operations Planning, Advanced Planning and Crisis Planning products for ACO; prepares the NCS and declared forces for current and future operations across the full spectrum of mission areas; develops ETEE direction and guidance; ensures forces are prepared in accordance with evaluation criteria; oversees and executes the ACO LL process.
J5 Division develops, reviews and maintains Strategic Operations Planning, Advanced Planning and Crisis Planning products for ACO.
The Strategic Planning Branch conducts initial strategic analysis, prudent military strategic planning and strategic operations planning for Strategic and Crisis Response Operations leading either to NATO-led operations or EU-led operations using NATO assets and capabilities. On behalf of ACOS J5, the Strategic Planning Branch is the requirements authority for operations assessment education and training across NATO.

This is a challenging position which requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal skills, a high level of personal initiative and the ability to concomitantly manage multiple work strands. The work of this post has direct implications not only across SHAPE, ACO and NATO as it establishes the foundations for collective training for operations assessment that has never been properly conducted in NATO.
The incumbent’s duties are: – Developing operations assessment policy documents to inform operations assessment collective training. – Developing operations assessment requirements for collective training. – Translating the operations assessment requirement for collective training into the overall exercise and training policy and planning documents. – Contributes to the development of collective training planning through the implementation of specific operations assessment requirements, events, incidents. – Develops the requirement for data sets that enable the conduct of operations assessment collective training and coordinates the development and implementation of these data sets into the planning and execution of operations assessment collective training. – Gathers and analyzes lessons identified and implements them into operations assessment documents and future operations assessment collective training events.

The study and experience of the methodology and practices involved in training soldiers, NCOs (noncommissioned officers), and officers. It also extends this to training small and large units, both

WHAT WE OFFER
• 38 hours per week schedule;
• 2.5 paid days of leave per month worked;

• Contract period: pending approval, ideally from 1 September. Contract 1 year.
• Salary: the remuneration of temporary personnel will be specified in their contracts. It is exempt from taxation in the Host Nation.
• Benefits package: temporary personnel are covered by a benefits package which consists of an additional sum of 12% of basic salary for pension purposes basic medical and accident insurance provided under the NATO Group insurance contract (death and invalidity). The cost for insurance amounts to approx. 9% of basic salary (2/3 payable by the Organisation and 1/3 payable by staff).
• For staff eligible under NATO rules, there is also a dependent child allowance and coverage for dependent children for medical benefits;
