Scope of Work:

The Braille System User/Translator will support the HMA EORE Training of Trainers (ToT) by providing specialized assistance to ensure that materials and presentations are accessible to individuals with impaired vision. This role is crucial for creating an inclusive training environment and will involve working closely with the training team to adapt content and facilitate effective communication.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited, to the following:

Braille Material Preparation:

  • Print the training agenda and other essential handouts in Braille to ensure accessibility for participants with impaired vision.
  • Convert and adapt training materials, including presentations and informational documents, into Braille as required.

Feedback and Adaptation:

  • Provide feedback on how to develop and enhance our awareness materials to better accommodate individuals with impaired vision.
  • Suggest improvements for making the training content more accessible and inclusive.

PwD EORE Material:

  • Create and manage contact phone cards in Braille for distribution during the ToT, ensuring that all relevant contact information is accessible.

Presentation Support:

  • Assist in the development and adaptation of presentations to include Braille-compatible elements.
  • Work with the training team to ensure that all visual materials are made accessible through Braille and other appropriate formats.

Additional Support:

  • Provide guidance and support to training team on best practices for accommodating individuals with impaired vision.
  • Address any accessibility issues that arise during the ToT and propose solutions to ensure an inclusive training experience.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the training team and other stakeholders to ensure that all accessibility needs are met.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions related to the ToT preparation and execution, offering insights from an accessibility perspective.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to

  • Proficient in Braille and Braille transcription.
  • Experience working with individuals with impaired vision.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility requirements and best practices.
  • Ability to adapt materials and presentations to meet the needs of impaired vision participants.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable

  • Previous experience with INGOs.
