Your team

Within the The Directorate Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre, the ATM Cooperations and Technology (ACT) domain is responsible for designing, developing, integrating and providing cutting-edge ATM data services and systems to the ATM Domain – and our OPS Room in particular – and our external partners in an equitable manner

Your role

Your role will be to:

  • Plan and execute integration and system-level verification tests for operational (sub)systems, covering both software and hardware components.
  • Monitor, track, and escalate incidents and problems within the system. Contribute to root cause analysis and actively participate in their resolution.
  • Assess the impact of changes on (sub)systems and provide inputs on the resolution of incidents arising from these changes.
  • Collaborate in managing the versioning and adaptation of operational system baselines. Prioritize and plan releases and system changes effectively.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including test descriptions and implementation procedures, to ensure clarity and continuity.
  • Coordinate activities with senior team members and collaborate closely with relevant internal teams to facilitate efficient testing and issue resolution.
  • Participate in the development of new working practices and tools to enhance testing processes and overall system reliability.
  • Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant area (Engineering, Computer Science, ICT, Aeronautics, etc.). A relevant Bachelor’s degree would be an asset.
  • Internal candidates can check on the intranet to see what level of in-house experience is considered equivalent to educational qualifications where appropriate.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant professional experience to perform the advertised tasks.
  • Experience in testing, validating, or operating modern, mission-critical systems or systems of equivalent complexity (e.g., banking/financial systems, transportation systems, nuclear power plant systems).
  • General IT awareness over a wide range of topics:
    • HW, SW development, Networks, Middleware, Configuration Management, Tools, Development Cycles (DevOPS, V-model, etc.), Quality, Testing.
  • Experience in working according to a management system (safety, quality, etc.).
  • Technical writing skills (English)
  • The following would be considered an asset:
    • Experience in developing and maintaining simulation and other system-level automation test tools.
    • Experience in aviation and in particular in the ATM operational domain.
  • This job requires regular evening and night work. Ability to work shifts and awareness of social impact.

  • Applications will be accepted from nationals of EUROCONTROL Member States only.
  • The selected candidate will be offered a contract of 5 Year (s) pursuant to the provisions of the Staff Regulations governing officials at EUROCONTROL. The contract may be renewed up to a maximum of 9 years or converted into an undetermined contract. Before being established in the post, the selected candidate will be requested to provide certified copies of their degrees and successfully serve a probationary period of 9 months.
  • Internal candidates
    If selected, the person will keep their current type of appointment duration (undetermined or determined).
    The internal staff member with a determined contract will be offered, in principle, an appointment for 5 Year(s) with a maximum total duration of 9 years.
  • The successful candidate shall be appointed at the grade set out in this vacancy notice, or if a group of grades has been published for a job level, in principle at the basic grade of the published job level.
  • Candidates declared suitable who are not selected for the post will be placed on a reserve list for similar roles. The reserve list will be valid for one year from the closing date of applications.
