Your team

Within the Directorate Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre, the “Technical Systems” service is responsible for the maintenance, development and improvement of software products which support MUAC in achieving its safety and capacity targets and sustain the growing air traffic demand. It provides also resources to various projects in its area of expertise and maintains technical hardware.

Your role

Your role will be to:

  • Prepare and execute integration and system-level verification tests, in compliance with regulatory requirements, on new deliveries of operational (sub)systems (software/hardware deliveries) within an operational system baseline.
  • Monitor and follow up on system incidents and problems, support their root cause analysis.
  • In coordination with (Senior) Test Engineer advise on the resolution of incidents and on the actions/implications on new/adapted software and hardware deliveries for operational (sub)systems.
  • Support the analysis of change proposals and problems when required.
  • Support the ATM system validation tests of operational system baselines, performed by Operational (OPS) staff, by planning the test environment, preparing the software, and providing feedback on the change.
  • Under supervision of a (Senior) Test Engineer participate in the version management and adaptation management of the operational system baselines.
  • Produce and maintain integration, test, and configuration documentation for operational system baselines, and ensure documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible.
  • Coordinate tests and planning activities for system integration with online systems, working closely with relevant internal and external stakeholders under the supervision of a Senior Test Engineer.
  • Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • This job requires regular evening and night work.
  • Ability to work shifts and awareness of social impact.
  • A level of post-secondary in a relevant field (i.e., engineering, computer science) and professional experience of 3 years

OR

  • Completed university studies of at least 3 years in a relevant field (i.e. engineering, computer science) and professional experience of one year.
  • In addition to the above, minimum 1 year of relevant working experience to perform advertised tasks.
  • Experience in testing and validation, preferably in an environment of equivalent complexity (e.g., banking/financial systems, transportation systems, nuclear power plant systems).
  • General IT awareness over a wide range of topics: HW, SW development, Networks, Middleware, Configuration Management, Tools, Development Cycles (DevOPS, V-model, etc.), Quality, Testing.
  • Understanding of management system (safety, quality, etc.).
  • Technical writing skills (English).
  • Problem-solving: You respond to (routine) problems as they arise by applying job knowledge.

  • The selected candidate will be offered a contract of 5 Year(s) and it may be renewed up to a maximum of 9 years or converted into an undetermined contract pursuant to the provisions of the Conditions of Employment of Contract Staff at EUROCONTROL. Before being established in the post, he/she will be requested to provide certified copies of his/her degrees and successfully serve a probationary period of 9 months.
  • The successful candidate shall be engaged in principle at the basic grade of the advertised grades.
