Mission and objectives
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. WFP’s efforts focus on emergency assistance, relief and rehabilitation, development aid and special operations.
Context
The World Food Programme (WFP) is dedicated to ensuring its assistance reaches persons with disabilities, addressing their needs, priorities, and experiences. Persons with disabilities are at greater risk of being left behind due to factors such as systemic inequality, discrimination, lack of accessibility, and exclusion from decision-making processes. This requires WFP staff to be equipped with the tools, knowledge, and skills to design and implement programming that is inclusive, accessible, and responsive to persons with disabilities. The WFP Disability Inclusion Team is seeking 2 online volunteers to proofread, translate, and format technical guidance documents, case studies, data collection tools, reports, and strategy documents. Translated materials will support WFP personnel at the country, regional, and global levels as they adopt inclusive approaches to engaging with persons with disabilities.
Task Description
Online volunteers will provide support to the Disability Inclusion Team with proofreading and translation of guidance documents. Tasks will include liaising with the core team via email, translating, proofreading and matching formats of documents ranging between 800-6,500 words to and from French. Approximately 2-3 documents will be translated per week, though this can vary per week based on the document length. Volunteer will also ensure that the translated terms are consistent across the document and in line with a WFP formatting and global and country normative frameworks.
