Mission and objectives

The Financial Analysis Unit (UAF) is a decentralized public service, with its own legal personality and assets, and is related to the President of the Republic of Chile, through the Ministry of Finance. The objective of the UAF is to prevent and impede the use of the financial system, and other sectors of Chilean economic activity, for the commission of the crimes of money laundering (ML) and financing of terrorism (FT). To this end, it carries out financial intelligence, issues regulations, monitors compliance, imposes administrative sanctions, trains and disseminates public information, and develops inter-institutional cooperation actions.

Context

The Government of Chile launched the 2023-2027 Action Plan of the National Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Terrorist Financing and Counter Proliferation Financiang Strategy on January of 2024. The document was prepared by the Intersectoral Roundtable on Prevention and Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (MILAFT), with the participation of 29 public institutions. The document compiles 54 commitments that will be developed over the next four years (until 2027), through 7 lines of work: legislative update, strengthening of criminal prosecution, identification and assessment of risks, supervision and coordinated inter-institutional regulation, exchange of financial information, training and national/international cooperation.

Task Description

We are seeking one (1) online volunteer to support us by translating the document: 2023-2027 Action Plan of the National Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Terrorist Financing and Counter Proliferation Financiang Strategy from Spanish to English. To this end the Online Volunteer is asked: – To translate the document, which is 122 pages long into English – To ensure the translation is accurate. The selected volunteer will be provided with the document in the original language and will receive guidance on the target audience and communications guidelines as well as other guidance needed. The online volunteer will have the opportunity to build connections with the International Affairs team of the Chilean Financial Analysis Unit and learn about the ways in which the translated product contributes to the mandate of the FIU.
