JOB DETAIL

Mission and objectives

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has been helping make the world safer from drugs, organized crime, corruption and terrorism. UNODC is committed to achieving health, security and justice for all by tackling these threats and promoting peace and sustainable well-being as deterrents to them.

UNODC’s Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation Section (PTRS) is responsible for identifying, developing, and disseminating evidence-based prevention of drug use, treatment, and rehabilitation of drug dependence, and for assisting the UNODC Field Offices in strengthening national capacities to develop and implement demand reduction strategies and programmes, including prevention of drug use. UNODC PTRS aims to decrease the risk of drug use and other health and social outcomes among young people through evidence-based prevention, including through their own meaningful participation in prevention efforts that is based on scientific evidence. In this context, UNODC PTRS is developing an evidence-informed peer-to-peer programme on drug use prevention (Friends in Focus) designed to be used by youth, for youth. UNODC plans to implement this new programme in various sites globally, necessitating various language versions of the programme.
