Background/Context

UN Women Bangladesh office is seeking the services of qualified international consultant [NS1] [SI2] to provide quality copy-editing services for English documents, including research studies.
Description of Responsibilities /Scope of Work
Reporting directly to the Manager of the relevant Programme Unit/Communications Analyst that requires copyediting services, selected consultants are responsible for the following:
- Copyedit drafts/knowledge products in line with UN editorial guidelines and UN Women’s established standards and formats to produce high quality, reader-friendly, accessible, timely, results-based donor reports, study/research/event reports, stories, briefs, brochures and other documents and materials aligned with UN editorial guidelines and UN Women’s established standards and formats. In some cases, this may entail substantive editorial changes including re-writing of sections and formatting.
- Proofreading print ready versions
Maximum 90 days of services will be required from 01 April 2025 to 31 March 2027. The consultant will be engaged under a retainer contract, which facilitates direct engagement of the consultant depending on need and availability within the contract period for a pre-agreed fee.
Each time there is a document that requires copyediting, the consultant will be contacted on her/his availability. Number of days required for each assignment will vary, depending on the length and quality of the draft document.
Consultant’s Workplace and Official Travel
This is a home-based consultancy. The consultant is expected to work with their own device. No office space or device will be provided for this assignment.
No travel is foreseen for this assignment. If unforeseen travel outside the duty station is required for this assignment, upon prior agreement/approval from UN Women such travel expenses shall be borne by UNWOMEN and the individual contractor/SSA shall receive a per-diem not to exceed the United Nations daily subsistence allowance (DSA) rate in such other location(s) and actual travel cost.

Required Qualifications
Education and Certification:
- A minimum of a master’s degree in social sciences, international development, communications, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree in these fields with at least 7 years of relevant work experience may be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in editing documents
- Experience in editing documents related to gender and development issues is an asset.
- Experience in copyediting donor reports, advocacy briefs, communications products.
- Prior experience in working with a UN agency is an asset.
Languages:
- Excellent written and editorial skills in English.
