UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
UN Women Nordic Office is located in UN City in Copenhagen. The office is responsible for strategic partnerships including resource mobilisation, advocacy and communication in the Nordic and Baltic regions. Key partners include governments, parliamentarians, the media, civil society, the private sector, and other UN agencies.
Under the supervision of the Director of the UN Women Nordic Liaison Office, the communication and visibility intern at the UN Women Nordic Liaison Office, will gain a deeper understanding of UN communication strategies and methods, as well as insight in global challenges and current gender equality efforts of the international community. The internship will provide excellent learning opportunities through participating in UN Women’s engagement with diverse stakeholders throughout the Nordic and Baltic regions, both internal and external to the UN, to advance gender equality worldwide. As part of a dynamic office, interns at UN Women are also part of the wider UN City community.
Description of Responsibilities
The internship will start on 15 January 2025 and end on 14 July 2025.

In addition to the above the intern will have the following learning objectives for the duration of the internship: Gain insight on strategies and approaches used in UN Women’s communication and visibility work, strategies for establishing and maintaining partnerships with various stakeholders, and gain experience and understanding of the work of the UN system and UN Women.

Interns who are not in receipt of financial support from other sources such as universities or other institutions will receive a stipend from UN Women to partially subsidize their basic living costs for the duration of the internship.
