Duties and Responsibilities
The intern is expected to contribute to the work of the Division as follows: a) To assist in the organisation and servicing of the intergovernmental and expert meetings in the areas covered by the Division, including energy for sustainable development, just transition, energy security, renewable energy, energy efficiency, cleaner electricity systems, coal mine methane, methane management, natural gas and resource classification management. b) To conduct research, data analysis, draft studies and short articles, contribute to social media campaigns and outreach efforts by preparing promotional content related to a number of the above listed fields. c) To assist the secretariat and its experts in data collection and analysis, including through web search, and preparation of documentation for the above listed fields. d) To carry out other tasks as required in the Division, such as meeting support, drafting of reports and updating the UNECE databases.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams. Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts in desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in spoken and written English is required. Working knowledge of French or Russian is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
