Org. Setting and Reporting
The position is located within the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) within Transport Section with duty station, Kinshasa. The incumbent will report to the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) in Kinshasa.
Responsibilities
Within the limits of delegated authority, the Vehicle Mechanic will be responsible for the following: • Services installing and repairing vehicles under vehicle manufacture standards and schedule: • Ensures that all relevant safety procedures have been followed when repairing and fitting replacement parts and vehicle inspections on UN-owned vehicles assigned to various units: • Conducts vehicle troubleshooting, repairing, maintenance, and replacing damaged whenever required and ensures downloaded data must not be edited or modified, and repairs vehicles by vehicle manufacturer’s standards and schedules. • Produces reports to document all servicing and repairs, operates recovery truck and recovers breakdown vehicles, and assists in identifying the required parts: • Assists in repairing electronic components in vehicles including the battery, ignition, AC, electronic fuel injection, anti-lock braking, cruise control, fixtures, general wiring, alarms, immobilizers and tracking devices, power windows, mirrors, power seats, tow bar and air conditioning. • Assists in mechanical and electrical systems, malfunctions, replacing parts and components repairing body damage. • Repairing light and heavy vehicles, Engineering equipment, MHE, including engines, gearboxes, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems. • Test parts and systems to ensure that they are working properly. • Repairing Air Conditioning Systems. • Identifies requirements of spare parts, universal and SST tools, and other workshop floor equipment. • Perform other tasks as instructed by the Regional Transport Officer and Chief Workshop

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
A valid Driver’s License is required. Please attach a copy in the attachments section. A technical or vocational motor mechanical or related field certificate is desirable.
Work Experience
At least three (03) years of professional experience in Transport Operations, Vehicle Repair and Maintenance including air conditioning, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems is required. Experience with the UN/NGO or other international bodies is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in French is required. Working knowledge of English is desirable.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
