EUMETSAT operates a growing fleet of Earth observation satellites, currently 12 satellites comprising four Meteosat geostationary (GEO) satellites of the Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) and Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) series, and two Metop low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. A further five Meteosat Third Generation and six Metop Second Generation satellites are currently in preparation for launch.
Reporting to the Head of IT Infrastructure and working closely with the IT Infrastructure Competence Area Managers, this new role within EUMETSAT will provide a unification function across IT Infrastructure to ensure that the entire Division is driving in a consistent approach for its technical strategy, technical architecture, service delivery and delivery prioritisation.
In the near term, the primary objective for this Senior IT Infrastructure role is to help drive the organisation to a service-based Infrastructure Delivery (PaaS) approach, coupled with the adoption of Virtual/Cloud computing platform for application delivery.

The initial contract will be of 4 years’ duration, with subsequent 5 year contracts being awarded thereafter, subject to individual performance and organisation requirements. There is no limit to the amount of follow-up contracts a staff member can receive up to the EUMETSAT retirement age of 63 and there are certainly opportunities to establish a long career perspective at EUMETSAT.
This post is graded A3/A4 on the EUMETSAT salary scales. The minimum basic salary for this post is EURO 8819 per month (net of internal tax but excluding pension contribution and insurances) which may be negotiable on the basis of skills and experience. The salary scale provides for increments on the anniversary of taking up employment, and scales are reviewed by the EUMETSAT Council with effect from 1 January each year.
