About the Web and Digital Transformation Specialist position

The Communications & Outreach Global Group engages external and internal audiences to increase CGIAR’s voice, influence, and impact around the world. This Group provides strategic and operational leadership in communications and outreach to build the brand, boost the understanding and relevance of CGIAR’s science, and support investment, positioning the organization to achieve its mission to transform food, land, and water systems.

CGIAR is undertaking a major web and digital change programme. The Web and Digital Transformation Specialist will be responsible for the digital infrastructure of the Communications & Outreach Global Group including a complex website and other digital solutions like social media management tool, event management tool, customer relationship management (CRM) etc. Some of these solutions are already in place and some will need to be procured and set-up. The Web & Digital Transformation Specialist will report to the Director for External Engagement, Campaigns and Events in the Communications & Outreach Global Group. The Web and Digital Transformation Specialist will be responsible for managing and delivering an already ongoing comprehensive digital transformation project. This includes devising strategies, executing action plans to integrate and consolidate several complex websites and communications platforms to ensure it aligns with CGIAR new communications audience-led and data-driven approach. The Web and Digital Transformation Manager will support communications professionals into executing their visions and translating their needs into digital platforms and solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor current digital infrastructure, including CGIAR website infrastructure, using WordPress and Drupal, and implement improvements, including redesign and rebuilding of new web and digital infrastructure of websites and intranets to ensure it meets the needs of the organization.
  • Introduce, consolidate, integrate and connect existing and new solutions, sites and tools to advance CGIARs digital communication tools, including related to events management, conference management to ensure CGIAR is using the latest digital tools and systems where agreed.
  • Build and maintain data analytics solutions consolidating metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) from multiple sources to enable the provision of actional insights for continuous improvements.
  • Develop policy and guidance documents that align with new web and digital infrastructure, tools and systems to embed the new processes and ways of working across CGIAR.
  • Implement the migration of current web and digital tools to new tools, including the migration from Mailchimp to Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including organize campaigns and train staff on new web and digital tools, to ensure CGIAR uses organization approved updated tools.
  • Build CGIAR staff capacity to utilize new digital solutions to enable the use of new digital solutions for various campaign and project requirements across CGIAR Centers.
  • Engage a cross-functional team of designers, developers, content creators, and marketers across CGAIR Centers to ensure the timely delivery of milestones and established quality standards.
  • Build communications evaluation platform connecting analytics tools from Sprout Social, Meltwater, Salesforce and Google Analytics that ensure the timely availability of data and insight.
  • Implement the consolidation of SharePoint Sites and Microsoft Teams sites to ensure the timely completion of roll-out and transition plans.
  • Ensure that all digital assets and communication tools are streamlined, efficient and developed with the end users in mind while adhering to CGIAR compliance standards.
  • Ensure new tools, products and solutions are introduced, designed, developed, rolled out and scaled through appropriate CGIAR constituencies, consultation and involvement (internal and external) to ensure it meets the needs of the users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computing, computer science, information systems, communication or other relevant field.
  • Mid-career level experience in maintaining and building existing and new web and digital infrastructure for larger organizations, preferably for an international organization with offices in different parts of the world.
  • Experience and proficiency with the Microsoft environment (especially SharePoint, Planner, Azure, PowerBi), Salesforce Environment (especially Marketing Cloud), Zoom, Google Analytics and Mailchimp, and website content management system like Drupal and WordPress (including Acquia Site Factory and Content Hub).
  • Experience in the agricultural research for development sector and affinity with science and research preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to develop and manage relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Team player with the ability to establish and nurture effective working relationships in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary and complex environment.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, editing and reporting skills in English.
  • Ability to present and package technical information into various formats to effectively engage specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • Ability to multitask and remain effective under pressure.
  • Highest work ethics and integrity to inspire trust and credibility.
  • Highly effective problem-solver who can think outside the box.

CGIAR offers an attractive compensation package, with favourable taxation arrangements as applicable in the country of the duty station and subject to a successful candidate’s circumstances. A comprehensive employee benefits package is offered, including extensive insurance coverage and a non-contributory retirement plan in most locations. Support is provided in the case of relocation for the staff member and eligible dependents, including education grants. The successful candidate will be offered an initial 3-year contract, renewable.
