Duties and Responsibilities
The services of an individual contractor are needed to act as an Information Society, Digital Cooperation & Digital Development web content management and operations assistant.
The individual contractor will provide support to activities of Phase 2 of the “Advancing Digital Cooperation and Development – Arab States Action Programme” project (ADCD-ASAP phase 2) falling under Immediate result 4 “Stakeholders in Member States have access to a dedicated online hub/knowledge repository on information society, digital development and digital cooperation (Digital Cooperation & Development Online Platform “DCD-OP”).
Duties and responsibilities are as follow:
• Prepare statistical tables and graphs and assists in the preparation of presentations and background material in support of Digital Development and Digital Cooperation deliverables especially when it comes to ADA, NDDR, ADDR.
• Contributes to the development of sub sites for Digital Cooperation and Digital Development in the Arab region and supports in updating and coordinating their content.
• Sorts, consolidates, extracts and processes data and enter into relevant databases, especially in MMM and the NDDRs.
• Review documents for National Digital Development (NDDR, ADDR) and Digital Cooperation & Development online platform (DCD-OP) for accuracy and quality.
• Assisting in the preparation of The Arab Digital Cooperation and Development Forum (DCDF) and associated Tracks: Arab WSIS, Arab IGF.
• Assist in composing draft information note and agenda for the Arab Digital Agenda meetings.
• Assist in following up with ESCWA Member Countries (EMCs) focal points on additional information on assessed digital development and digital cooperation status & Assisting in the assembly of a follow up mechanism (FUR) that will help immensely in the ADA 2.0.
• Adapt content of the main Information Society, Digital Cooperation & Digital Development products and channels to be e-publishable and searchable and interactive with attractive visuals: Cooperation & Digital.
• Providing assistance to the project team including research, data collection especially in the DCDF.
• review the English and Arabic of the ADA 2.0.
• Assist in following up with ESCWA Member Countries (EMCs) focal points on additional information on assessed digital development and digital cooperation status.
• Maintain up-to-date database/mailing lists and work files on Information Society. Digital Cooperation & Digital Development (both electronic and paper).
• Draft routing correspondences (emails, letters, memos…) to relevant stakeholders as needed.
• Support the development and design of the main websites and sub sites related to the Information Society. Digital Cooperation & Digital Development content and systematically check and update their content (e.g., ADA, NDDR, ADDR, DCDF websites, etc.).
• Perform other related tasks and duties as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
A Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Information Society, Digital Cooperation & Digital Development, economics, development studies or sustainable development is required. Master’s degree is an advantage.
A degree in ICTs and/or digital media related discipline is desirable.

A minimum of two years of professional experience and knowledge of Information Society, Digital Cooperation & Digital Development, economics and sustainable development issues is required.
Experience in research and analysis in the Arab region is desirable.
Languages
Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA.
For this position, Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
