Title of Assignment: Writing articles for the WIPO Magazine and other publications/materials

1. Objective of the assignment
WIPO is seeking expert writers to produce content for various channels. Writers will be briefed to research and draft content for a variety of original articles, and to repurpose and redraft existing content, for web and print.
2. Deliverables/services
Writers will provide the following services, as required, in line with WIPO’s tone of voice and Editorial Style Guide, and incorporating search engine optimized keywords:
a. On receipt of a brief, research and write WIPO Magazine articles on specialist topics related to IP; incorporate peer review comments from substance experts and the Editor of the WIPO Magazine; finalize articles for copy-editing; create related promotional texts for social media.
b. On receipt of original content, create a variety of promotional content for publications and events, such as web descriptions, social media posts and short news items.
c. On receipt of a brief, research and write web stories.
d. As required, source imagery from WIPO photo libraries to illustrate draft content.
3. Reporting
Writers will be under the supervision of the Head of the Publications and Design Section or Head of Web Communications, as appropriate.
4. Profile (e.g. area of specialization/expertise, specific knowledge/skills/experience)
We require expert writers with the following experience, skills and competences:
• Minimum of five years of experience in writing a variety of types of content, including outreach and technical content for the web.
• Minimum of three years of experience working on the subject of intellectual property.
• Excellent drafting skills.
• Ability to work with subject experts with good judgement and tact.
• Experience in working with a semantic brief (SEO) and applying house style.
5. Duration of contract and payment
The duration of this assignment will be until December 31, 2029.
Payment will be made on invoice, based on actual hours of work rendered at the agreed hourly rate, as confirmed by the supervisor.
Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations in Swiss francs (hourly rate).
