Plan International envisages a world in which all children and young people realize their full potential, a vision now shared by the 193 Heads of State and Government who adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in September 2015.
In Bangladesh, we have set our vision for 2030 as, ‘We will partner to empower girls and young women, to be heard, to live without fear of violence and to achieve their rights’. We have started the new country strategy in July 2020 aiming to achieve this exciting and ambitious vision. This would require the organization to have an effective, efficient and committed workforce willing to challenge the prevailing status quo, engaging men, women, boys, youth people, especially girls and bringing the best out of all to create synergy for movement at all levels – from community to national, and beyond.
The Role:
The Youth and Social Inclusion Expert plays a crucial role in driving Plan International’s mission in Bangladesh by spearheading initiatives that empower young people and foster inclusive societies. With a focus on skills development and gender equity, this role aims to create opportunities for youth to thrive and contribute to sustainable development. By challenging harmful social norms and promoting dialogue and collaboration, the expert seeks to create a future where all young people, regardless of gender or background, can realize their full potential and actively participate in shaping their communities.
What we’re looking for:
We need a self-motivated and energetic individual with Master’s Degree in sociology, anthropology, development studies, or related disciplines, providing a solid theoretical foundation for understanding youth development and social inclusion. He/she should have ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience with national or international NGOs, focusing on skills development for youth and implementing social safety net programs to promote gender equity.
Should demonstrate proficiency in conducting youth analyses and designing youth integration programs, showcasing the ability to translate insights into effective interventions along with clear understanding of social norms within project contexts, encompassing both geographic and technical dimensions, to inform strategies for fostering an enabling environment for youth. Should have proven track record in designing and facilitating participatory training and workshops, engaging diverse stakeholders in interactive learning experiences. Showcasing strong communication skills, enabling effective engagement with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally, on complex or sensitive issues related to youth and social inclusion. Work experience within the concerned division, coupled with local language proficiency, facilitating enhanced communication with beneficiaries and ensuring cultural sensitivity in program delivery is a must.
